Deconstruction
The
“Art” of Salvaging Building Materials
before Demolition
Deconstruction is the
hand demolition of buildings in the reverse order of their construction in
order to carefully remove materials for reuse and recycling. This
technique reduces the disposal of materials into the landfill, and provides
materials for renovation and other small-scale construction projects.
If you have or know
of a house or building that will be torn down, please call the ReStore and
allow our deconstruction crews to salvage what can be reused before
demolition.
Why?
-
Proceeds help
Habitat for Humanity to serve more families in need.
-
It saves landfill
resources, and is better for the environment.
-
Your donation
provides a smart alternative and option for maintaining the Habitat
ReStore resources.
-
Deconstruction
operations provide valuable volunteer opportunities for individuals and
groups.
-
Your donated,
salvaged items may be tax deductible.
